Why protein matters

Protein is your body’s building block. A protein consists of amino acids. Some amino acids can be produced by your body itself while others are gained through what you eat.

Out of 20 amino acids there are nine which you cannot produce yourself, but need to be digested through food. These are essential amino acids. Three of the essential amino acids are called branched chain amino acids or BCAA.

BCAA covers the three essential amino acids: leucine, valine and isoleucine.

Protein is important, as it contributes to maintain and increase muscle mass. Protein also helps to maintain normal bones.

Protein should be consumed regularly throughout the day. The body can utilize up to 24 g every 3 hour.
